Safeglass (Europe) Limited was formed in 1997 to commercialise the award winning material, Safeglass®. Since then, we have expanded our product range to include other break glass materials, plastics and hammer boxes. We also design and assist with unusual, legacy products which are no longer easily available.
Safeglass® is the world’s first material specifically designed for break glass use. It is a polymer material which does not hold a sharp edge and is therefore safer than real glass. It is easier to break than other plastics as it is more brittle. Safeglass is used in our hammer boxes to cover the hammer, keeping it free from dirt and reducing theft. For more information, please see our Safeglass website.
We offer a range of hammer boxes using different materials to comply with the safety standards of both the rail and bus industries. We also have different designs of hammers to suit a range of situations. For example, we can supply a hammer on a retractable “anti theft” chord for sensitive areas accessible by the public.
If you do not see what you are looking for on our website, please get in touch to discuss your requirements. We can customise our design for your specific use and safety standards.
Our customers come from across the Rail industry where we supply train manufacturers, end users and intermediaries. Our clients include Bombardier, Siemens and Stadler. In the UK we supply most of the Train Operating Companies such as Scotrail, South West Trains, Virgin and Eurostar. We also provide products to the UK bus industry, such as Alexanders, Optare and Wright Bus.
Our product range falls into the category of “highly specialised” and we are often able to manufacture small batch runs. For example, we recently adapted out hammer box design for Eurostar to comply with both the standards and the location it was to be installed.
